Like many spots along the Coast of Maine, the Haven Colony was established in the late 1800’s and is full of wonderful old cottages and home to the Center Harbor Yacht Club, founded in 1912 as a small, private, summer club to encourage sailing, seamanship, and camaraderie. A common sight is to see junior sailors on the Reach in their Beetle Cats and Haven 12-1/2s (designed by Joel White, founder of Brooklin Boat Yard and son of E B White) or weekly races on a summer afternoon.
